Newsletter week 25

Hi all it is I with your weekly instalment from your beloved pastor JJ

As we wind our way through a chilly winter i remind myself that there is only 9 days left until the team leave for the Solomon’s and what will be warmer days and barmy nights. Don’t be too jealous though as showers are more than likely cold water only; if we are lucky…but seriously the team is pumped and primed to head over there and be a blessing to them as I am sure they will be a blessing to us.
The two younger ones, Natalia and Patular, look a little nervous especially after I told them they are up for the youth meeting the first night we arrive. May as well go in the deep end. I ask you keep the team in your prayers to be dangerous against the kingdom of darkness. Pray for me as the team leader that I am able to encourage all the guys and to have wisdom in ministering to the people. Praise God that he has already sent the Holy Spirit over ahead of us to prepare the hearts and minds of those that he has chosen in advance. Pray we come back with testimony after testimony of the goodness and greatness of our Almighty God.

I often think that as individuals we have the desire and the willingness to do great things.
We may have the talent to achieve it but often I believe people become frustrated because they do not sense the opportunity. It is almost like ‘I’m all dressed up and nowhere to go’. In my experience I have certainly felt like that at times wondering when I will get my big break; when will I get the call up; hey God how come this isn’t happening for me. We blame God, we blame other people and we might blame circumstance.

The best piece of advice I can offer to you is this: take your mind off what ‘you’ want to do for a moment. Take a chill pill, put your mind to rest knowing if it is in God then it will happen; just in his timing not in yours, and get in and help someone else.
The kingdom of God is a we thing not an I thing. It’s not about me, my plans. If we look at our bodies we understand that if a body part starts to act independently from all the others it can disable at worst or debilitate the whole body. No, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:26

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And in the church God has appointed…

and in Ephesians 4:15

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

I wonder what was happening in the two Greek churches that Paul felt to encourage them in this area with both of them. The point is we are all in this together, no one is of less value than the other, no one is more dispensable than another. I must submit itself to we and we must submit ourselves to Christ who is the head.

So do you still find yourself frustrated…get over it and get on with it. WE will keep marching on. WE will continue to seek opportunities to express ourselves. WE will trust in God that he brings all things to pass in his timing. WE will commit to see this city bow it’s knee to Jesus…they will all do it one day anyway. Much better as Lord and Saviour rather than Judge and Jury.

WE are the body of Christ and this is God’s church that WE have been place into. YOU are of great value and YOU have something to contribute. Go for it.

See you on Sunday
